One of the largest and most exciting ministries of its kind in the state, the Sedric Mann Memorial Library (SMML) at our church seeks to meet a Christian’s total informational needs with a selection of over 10,000 items.  These items include books, periodicals, videos, audiobooks, compact discs, DVD’s, computer games and reference material.

To the right you'll find a few of our frequently asked questions. Please click the topic and you will go to information pertaining to that topic. If you have others, please feel free to contact the Church Library Ministry Director, Connie Horsley, by telephone at (205) 655-2403, ext. 241, or via email.

Who can use the library's resources?
Anyone, member or non-member of FBC Trussville alike.  Although the Sedric Mann Memorial Library is committed to supporting all of First Baptist’s programs and members in whatever way possible, we also share our resources and   services outside our membership. Consequently, the SMML enjoys a reputation as a major source of resources and informational assistance throughout the entire Trussville area.   Return to Top

What do you have for adults?

Most people think of a church library as something for kids. That is not so in the SMML. In additional to the resources available for Bible study and Christian living, the SMML has an extensive

Christian fiction section. The SMML also offers resources on marriage, divorce, child rearing, personal finance, hobbies, sports, travel and history.   Return to Top

    What resources are available?

In addition to informational resources, the SMML offers a number of creative resources such as an extensive Ellison die cut system and a collection of international objects appropriate for missions programs or exhibits. The

library is also informally known throughout the church as a resource for "emergency" supplies such as spare thumbtacks, extra safety pins or peppermint candy. If you don’t have what you need, ask Connie!   Return to Top

    What are some special programs?

Our highly successful Children’s Summer Reading Program recently celebrated its thirteenth year with kids ages 3 through sixth grade reading tens of thousands of books over the years. In 2003, we instituted an Adult Summer Reading Program, which was enjoyed by over 27 of our senior friends.

Story time is held in the SMML twice a month for the children in our five-year-old kindergarten program. The children are first introduced to the library with a story about caring of books. On each visit, the children are allowed to select one book to carry home and enjoy for two weeks.   Return to Top

Trussville, and you feel God is leading you to serve in this ministry, contact Library Ministry Director, Connie Horsley.   Return to Top
